Nigerian actress Mercy Johnson claims she has been called to tell Nigerian stories through her movies.
The actress turned producer has been in the movie industry since 2004 and recently made her production debut with the movie “The Legend of Inikpi”.
Mercy in an interview stated that she believes she has been chosen to tell people about Nigerian culture through movies.
She added that based on the reviews from fans, it is evident that people are interested in the stories as such she is honoured to be a vessel through which these stories are brought to the people.
Mercy said:
“I believe I’ve been called to tell Nigerian stories. From the feedback we have so far, people are ready to know more about our culture and past. It’s an honour to be the vessel to tell these stories.”
The movie features A-list actors, including Sam Dede, Odunlade Adekola, Saidi Balogun and Paul Obazele.
‘The Legend of Inikpi’ is based on the life of revered Igala princess, Inikpi Oma Ufedo Baba, who chose to give her life for the freedom of her homeland.
The movie tells the true story of two great kingdoms on the brink of war.
