Government’s delay forces parents to contribute money and build classrooms for their kids
Parents of the children at Jumba Senior Secondary School in Mthatha, South Africa recently took it upon themselves to build additional classrooms at the school.
The school was one of many which were affected by a tornado but government’s delay in rebuilding the classrooms was affecting the resumption of academic activities, so the parents decided to contribute money among themselves and rebuild the blocks.
A Twitter user, @ghettostyler recently shared a picture of builders working on the classrooms. He revealed that they chose to start the rebuilding process pending when the education authorities would help.
He wrote;
“PARENTS from Jumba Senior Secondary School in Mthatha have taken a decision to build two classrooms, to assist their children with their learning, while they wait for the Eastern Cape Department of Education to assist them.
“The school governing body (SGB) treasurer, Nobomi Sifundo, confirmed that they were using donations from the parents to build these classrooms. This school is one of the schools that were damaged by a tornado last year.”

Why would we want to vote for another political party. You people are jealous of our title as the poorest and most underdeveloped province in the country. I have news for you, it's not going to happen. pic.twitter.com/ocfkUIqDJc
