Delta State Orders Closure Of Two Schools Over Examination Malpractice

Two private secondary schools in Delta State have been marked for closure by the Delta State Government over examination malpractices during the 2018 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

On the same issue, 16 teachers have been sanctioned by the Examination Ethics Disciplinary Committee (EEDC) of the Delta State Ministry of Education on the grounds of collusion, comprise and negligence of duty.

The disciplinary committee after its investigation affirmed that students of St. Vincent College, Ovwian, wrote the 2018 WASSCE at Anointed Secondary School, Ubogo, without WAEC or the ministry approval.

The two schools have been ordered to be close down, while the 16 teachers involved have been suspended from supervising exams for three years and promotion deferred for a year.
