In a bid to address the unprecedented increase in transportation costs, the Kwara State Government has issued a directive reducing the workweek from five days to three days for all state workers. This decision was announced today in a statement released by Murtala Atoyebi, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak.
The State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Oluwole, has subsequently instructed all Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to promptly devise a schedule outlining the alternating workdays for each employee within their respective departments.
Oluwole emphasized that this measure was a temporary solution aimed at alleviating the burdens faced by public workers in the state. She acknowledged the hardship endured by employees due to the recent removal of fuel subsidies, a move implemented by the Federal Government.
