Secondary school student bites the dust subsequent to leaping off second floor of dormitory.

A form three student at Maseno secondary school in Kisumu county of Kenya, has committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of their dormitory.

 

Kisumu West area OCPD David Nyabuto said the case was reported to them by the institution’s Deputy Principal, Mr John Okoth, after the student died while receiving treatment.

Nyabuto said;

 

“At around 4:00 am, the deputy principal received information from one student that while other students were about to wake up, he heard a loud thud of something falling from the second floor to the ground next to a window where his bed is located.”

 

It was gathered that the student rushed to check and noticed that a fellow student had fallen, and he called other students to help him save the life of their colleague before reporting to the deputy.

 

Nyabuto added that the deceased was rushed to Agha Khan hospital, where he succumbed to the severe head injuries he sustained while undergoing treatment.

Teachers and students who embarked on a search thereafter, recovered a note on his desk. The police has now opened an inquest file for investigation purposes.

 

In the suicide note, the deceased asked his closest friend and a classmate to take possession of his belongings.

he OCPD also called upon students or anyone contemplating suicide to seek guidance and counselling.

 

Nyabuto said;

 

“Nowadays, schools and institutions have people given the responsibility to do counselling, and the affected ones should consult with the guidance and counselling personnel to solve their issues.”

 

The deceased’s body has been deposited at Agha Khan mortuary and is awaiting postmortem.
