Rapper, Gunna Releases Statement After Pleading Guilty To RICO Charge

Popular American rapper, known for “Pushing P” movement and member of YSL group, Sergio Kitchens, popularly known as Gunna has issued a press statement following his release from prison.

The rapper was released from jail in the US after he agreed to enter a guilty plea to a gang-related charge. Following his release, Gunna had released a statement through his defence attorney Steve Sadow, saying he took an Alford plea which is a guilty plea where a defendant maintains their innocence but admits that the prosecution’s evidence would likely result in a guilty verdict if brought to trial.

Speaking on his affiliation with YSL, Gunna stated that when he’d gotten related with YSL in 2016, he did not consider it a “gang” but more like a group of people who had common interests and artistic aspirations.

With several members of the black community tagging the rapper a snitch, the statement made it known that he’d not been interviewed, or testified. It read; “I want to make it perfectly clear that I have not made any statements, have not been interviewed, have not cooperated, have not agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely no intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Additionally it stated; “I have chosen to end my own RICO case with an Alfred plea, and end my personal ordeal by publicly acknowledging my association with YSL.

Gunna is charged with one count of racketeering. According to the indictment, he allegedly received stolen property and was in possession of drugs — including methamphetamine, marijuana, and hydrocodone — with the intent to distribute. He was arrested on May 11, 2022.
