Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) stops issuance of International PassportThe Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has placed an embargo on capturing and issuance of international passports to applicants from Tuesday May 18th till the end of May 2021.
This was revealed by the Comptroller General of Immigration, Muhammed Babandede, during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to him, the decision is to enable the service to clear its backlog, noting that it will no longer collect fresh applications until the backlogs are cleared.

The embargo means that all passport offices across the country are closed for new applicants till the end of May 2021 and payments for passports will be online when the portal is opened which will be June.
