Mayor Of London Reacts To Stampede At Asake’s Concert

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has sympathized with those affected by the stampede which occurred outside a South London venue where Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Asake, was holding a concert.

Emergency services rushed to the venue following reports of crowd trouble at 9.35pm, and found “a number of people with injuries believed to have been caused by crushing”.

A total of eight people were taken to hospital from the O2 Academy Brixton by ambulance, the Metropolitan Police said, and two who were less seriously injured were treated at the scene.

Reacting to the incident in a tweet on his verified Twitter page on Friday, December 16, Khan said he was heartbroken by the incident. He also said an urgent investigation is underway.
