Kids in Makoko slums amaze many as they rock classy outfits for Chess tournament
Kids from a the slums of Makoko in Lagos state recently participated in a chess tournament organised by the founder of Chess in Slums Africa, Tunde Onakoya.
The tournament which had been planning for months turned out to be a huge success, interestingly, what stood out for many was not game but the children who looked nice.
The boys rocked dapper suits while the girls wore beautiful dresses and they stunned social media users who did not hold back words when it came down to appreciating them.
Amid the fashion statement, a Nigerian child, Ferdinand, became a chess champion despite having cerebral palsy.
In April, Tunde who doubles as a chess instructor said that his team met Ferdinand and introduced the young boy to the game. He said a not long after, the young boy outperformed everyone.
The entrepreneur disclosed that he soon discovered the boy was a master chess player.
When the tournament was over, the tutor added that though he had never heard him say anything in the English language, he uttered “champion” as he held his trophy.
