Police officers and men of the Nigerian army have been deployed in the Lekki toll gate, Lagos, in what appears to be an attempt to forestall another round of #EndSARS protests.
According to The PUNCH, several motorists revealed that the security operatives were deployed around midnight.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, did not respond to calls on Monday morning, PUNCH reports.
Recall that both the military and police authorities had warned several times in the preceding weeks that they would not allow another round of protests to take place.
The #EndSARS protests which took place in October, happened for a period of two weeks before it turned bloody in Lagos on October 20, 2020, when men in military uniform opened fire on peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate.
