COVID19 palliatives: I forgive my accusers– Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar-Faruk

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Faruk, says she has forgiven those who accused her of hoarding COVID-19 palliatives.

 

Recall that in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic and the lockdown enforced, the Federal government disbursed funds for the provision of palliatives such as food items to the poor and vulnerable. Umar-Faruk was accused of hoarding the palliatives. She was also accused of disbursing expired products which some states returned to her ministry.

 

In the wake of the EndSARS protest, Nigerians discovered warehouses where some state governments stored the palliatives. A lawmaker in Lagos state in a statement released said he was to distribute the palliatives on his birthday before it was looted.

 

The Minister was in Gusau, Zamfara state on Monday, October 26 where she was asked to react to the recent discoveries. She said she has forgiven all those who accused her wrongly and prays that God forgives everyone.

I have always said I am carrying out my duties and responsibilities to the best of my ability and with fairness to all parts of the country. Now that they have realized their mistakes, l will only pray to God to forgive us all,”
