A look at the records of English Premier League (EPL) managers in the modern era shows that only four of them have won more than 5 games against the Red Devils. Interestingly, only two of these coaches are currently in the English top flight. Who are these exceptional gaffers?
Arsene Wenger, former Arsenal Manager
The manager on to top of the list is no other person than the Legendary Arsene Wenger. A look at Premier League records shows that this Frenchman is the only coach that has got more than 10 wins over the Manchester Reds. He has got 12 wins in 44 games against the Red Devils in the competition. Wenger get his first win over them in November 1997 when the met at Highbury. This follows losses to the Ferguson-managed side in the previous season. The retired centre-back went on to play four EPL games unbeaten (3 wins and 1 draw) over the course of two seasons. His last win over the Red Devils came in May, 2017 when Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck scored in the second half to get 2-0 win.

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City gaffer
The manager that comes next to Wenger in this Pep Guardiola. This Spaniard has won 7 of his 14 Premiership games against the Old Trafford club. That makes him the only manager (minimum 10 meetings) with an overall 50% win ratio against United in the Premier League. Unlike Wenger, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich gaffer won his first game against the 20-time English champions. This was on match day 4 of 2016/17 Guardiola-managed Manchester City beat the Red Devils 2-1. So far, he has beaten 4 different managers at the club – Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Ragnick and Erik ten Hag. His best win against the Manchester Reds came in October, 2022 when Foden and Haaland got a hat trick each to end the game 6-3 at Etihad Stadium.
The only two other managers that made this list are Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp. These two coaches have won 6 Premiership matches each against the Red Devils. As for Mourinho, 5 of his EPL wins over United were for Chelsea while the other one is for Tottenham.
