Boko Haram attack hometown of Acting IG of Police in Yobe
Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members, on Friday night, attacked Geidam, Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe state, SaharaReporters reports.
Geidam is the hometown of the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba Alkali.
The town is about 200 kilometres from Damaturu, the Yobe state capital and one of the border towns between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
According to SaharaReporters, the insurgents invaded the town with several gun trucks at about 6pm.
The incident is coming few weeks after gunmen attacked the community, abducting three officers of the Nigerian Customs Service.
