A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has adjourned the trial of former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to October 20 this year.

The former governor was present in court on Monday July 6 but the case was adjourned after counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Jacobs, told the presiding judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, that the prosecution witness who was supposed to testify was not available. Jacobs told the court that the witness had informed him that “one of his family members was being quarantined in the Isolation centre.”

He subsequently asked the court for an adjournment which was not opposed by the counsel to the former governor, Olalekan Ojo.

The judge then adjourned the case to October 20 for the continuation of the trial.

Fayose is standing trial for the alleged misappropriation of N2. 2 billion of the state funds when he served as governor of the state.
