UI workers do thanksgiving, fry akara to celebrate VC’s exit

The completion of the five year tenure of Prof. Idowu Olayinka as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, was celebrated by workers of the institution with several activities indicating that they were relieved with his exit.

It was gathered that the workers of the prestigious Nigerian university kicked off celebrations with a Thanksgiving before proceeding to the VC’s office at the Tekena Tamuno building where they swept the entire place.

According to OYOINSIGHT, the joyous workers proceeded to the main gate where they swept the entire area extending up to the main road.

They then proceeded to burn all the brooms they used in sweeping the main road and sanitized their hands before moving back into the institution.

After leaving the road, the joyous workers then fried beans cake commonly known as akara, to mark the auspicious moment.

Olayinka’s five-year tenure as the vice-chancellor of the institution was reportedly fraught with battles with workers union over the running of the institution’s affairs.
