“This Is A Shrine!”- Reactions Trail As St. Luke Catholic Church Celebrates Holy Mass Using Traditional Items In Abuja

NIgerians have shared mixed views on social media after the St. Luke Catholic church in Kubwa, Abuja, celebrated the Holy Mass using traditional items and outfits.

 

Myriad of comments have criticized the church for changing the pattern of which the widely venerated celebration is usually done.

Pictures making rounds on social media show young men following the priest to the altar with a native calabash.

In the photos, the young men and women dressed in native attires and singlets, while they decorated themselves with white chalk: a practice identified with herbalists in the country.
