Restrain the military and other security agencies from using brute force as a way of ending the crisis – Obasanjo tells Buhari over shooting of protesters

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has written an 8-paragraph letter, condemning the shooting of protesters in the country.

Obasanjo noted in his letter that the protest against police brutality and improvement of lives of Nigerians has been a peaceful one. He added that the shooting and murder of unarmed protesters no matter the level of provocation, has never been effective in suppressing public anger and frustration.

The former President advised Buhari to restrain the military and other security agencies from using brute force as a way of ending the crisis, amid the denial of wrongdoing in spite of an overwhelming evidence.

Obasanjo further stated that though a great harm has been done, it can be stopped before it spirals out of control.
