Nigerians have expressed outrage after people were killed as shots were fired at unarmed End SARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate.
Celebrities, Amnesty International Nigeria, and other Twitter users have condemned the killings.
Actress Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman wrote: “Everyone that has a hand in the massacre of Lekki toll gate will never know peace !!! Their families will never know peace!!! In Jesus name . Amen.”
Her husband, actor Ibrahim Suleiman added: “This is your legacy @jidesanwoolu.This image right here, is your legacy. May God have mercy on the souls that have been violently taken away from this world today. But for everyone involved in this massacre, may they all NEVER know peace.”
Ik Osakioduwa wrote: “I was at the toll earlier today and I was present when protesters unanimously agreed that when soldiers showed up they would sit and not engage. They would not speak to or provoke them. There is absolutely no need to shoot at them. This is disgraceful.”
Banky W wrote: “We protested against violence, and they responded with more violence. We spoke up about getting beaten, extorted and killed – they responded with more killing. Our hearts are broken but our spirits will never die. #CrimesAgainstHumanity “
